Two things make Beverly Hills work different. The first is that a property here often has more than one door, and they are rarely standard: a pair of single carriage-style doors onto a motor court, a service garage behind, sometimes a lower level reached by a ramp. They were installed together, so they wear together, and it is common to find that the door which failed was simply the first of three. The second is appearance. These are almost always heavy clad or solid wood doors chosen to match the house, so a damaged section cannot be swapped for whatever is on the shelf. We match the panel, the profile and the finish, and where a full replacement is needed we will source to the existing design. Weight is the technical issue behind both: wood moves with the weather, so a door that was balanced last winter can be out of balance by summer, and an opener straining against an unbalanced door is what eventually breaks it. On the flats the pattern shifts again, with alley-loaded garages behind the houses and duplexes where access is tight.
We weigh and re-spring heavy custom doors properly rather than adding tension to the wrong spring, replace cables, rollers, hinges and track, reset off-track doors, and repair or replace openers, including quiet belt-drive and wall-mounted units. Photo-eye safety sensors are fitted where they are missing, and we test every door on the property before we leave. Every visit ends with a balance test and a reverse test. Licensed and insured.
