Corona's newer hillside tracts were built with three-car garages, which usually means one wide double door plus a single, and the double is often a heavy insulated panel. Weight is the problem: springs are cycle-rated, not time-rated — about 10,000 cycles on a standard torsion spring — so a door opened four times a day gets there in well under a decade, and a heavier door punishes every other part while it drifts out of balance. Santa Ana winds funneling through the canyon push on those large panels and drive grit into the tracks and rollers, so we find creased top sections, rollers that bind and doors that have walked off their tracks. Cables fray where they wind on the drum once the lift goes uneven, and an out-of-balance door will destroy an opener's gears long before the opener would have worn out on its own. Add Corona's summer heat and the bottom seal hardens, which lets even more of that wind-blown dust into the tracks.
Most jobs are repairs — springs matched to the door's actual weight, cables and drums, nylon rollers, hinges, opener gears and boards, sensor alignment and track straightening. Where a section is creased or a door has run out of balance long enough to damage the frame, we quote a replacement rather than stack another repair on top of it.
