The residential half of El Segundo is one of the most consistent street grids in the South Bay: modest 1920s to 1950s homes on narrow lots, with a single garage at the rear reached from the alley. Those garages are small, the openings are short and narrow, and headroom above the door is minimal, so a standard overhead opener often does not fit properly and a wall-mounted unit is the better answer. Because so many have been turned into workshops, offices and gyms, we are frequently called to doors that have not been operated in years and have seized on their tracks.
