The southern half of Granada Hills is 1950s and 1960s ranch housing on wide lots under some of the biggest street trees in the Valley, and those trees matter more than people expect. Leaf litter, seed pods and grit collect in the bottom track, the door stops seating properly, and the safety reverse starts triggering on nothing. North of Rinaldi the housing gets newer and larger, with three-car garages, and often two separate doors on one property that have aged at different rates. The ground rises toward the foothills as well, so a lot of driveways slope, which hides an out-of-balance door until the day it will not hold position.
