Most of Inglewood's housing dates from the 1920s through the 1950s, and the standard arrangement is a single garage at the back of the lot, reached down a long side driveway or from an alley. A large share of those doors are still original or close to it: one-piece tilt-up panels or early sectionals hung on extension springs, very often with no containment cable to catch the spring if it lets go, and openers added decades later with no photo-eye sensors. That is the single most common safety fix we make here, and it is inexpensive. The other thing shaping our work is how much of Inglewood is being renovated at the moment, with garages being converted to ADUs or brought back into use after years of storage. A door that has not moved in a decade will not simply start working again; the springs have lost tension and the rollers have seized, and it needs re-hanging properly rather than forcing.
We replace springs and fit containment cables where they are missing, renew cables, rollers, hinges and track, reset off-track doors, free off and re-balance doors that have sat unused, repair and replace openers, and add working photo-eye sensors and auto-reverse. Where a very old one-piece door has had its day we can fit a modern insulated sectional in the same opening. Every visit ends with a balance test and a reverse test. Licensed and insured.
