Springs are rated by cycle count, not by age, which is why a dock door opened thirty times a day burns through a standard 10,000-cycle spring in a year or two while the identical spring on a house lasts well over a decade. High-cycle springs, correctly sized drums and scheduled tension checks are what keep a commercial door from failing in the middle of a shift and shutting down a bay. On any door, residential or commercial, the moment the balance goes off the opener or operator starts carrying weight it was never rated for, and that is what turns a cheap spring job into a motor replacement. Cables begin fraying where they wrap the drum, so a strand-by-strand failure usually shows up before the door ever drops.
We repair far more doors than we replace: springs sized to the door and the traffic it sees, cables and drums reset, tracks straightened, rollers and bearings renewed, openers and commercial operators diagnosed and repaired. When a door or an operator is genuinely past its service life, we say so and quote the replacement instead of stacking up repairs on something that will fail again.
