North Redondo was rebuilt on a huge scale from the 1980s onward, replacing single homes with pairs and rows of three-storey townhomes, and that produced a very particular pattern: two garage doors side by side on one narrow shared driveway, each belonging to a different owner, each with its own opener. They were installed at the same time so they wear at the same time, and neighbours often discover that within weeks of each other. The shared driveway is short, so cars sit close to the doors and bottom sections get nudged. South Redondo is a different city entirely, with older beach cottages and 1950s homes near the Esplanade and steeper hillside properties up in the Hollywood Riviera where garages sit below the house. Being right on the water, cables, springs and bottom brackets in South Redondo corrode noticeably faster.
We replace springs, corroded cables, rollers, hinges, bottom brackets and damaged track, straighten or replace struck sections, reset off-track doors, and repair or replace openers, including quiet belt-drive and wall-mounted units for garages under bedrooms. Where two doors were installed together we will tell you honestly whether the second one needs doing now or can wait. Every visit ends with a balance test and a reverse test.
