We cover the whole city — the Mesa and the waterfront, San Roque, Samarkand, Oak Park, the Upper East and Lower Riviera, Hidden Valley and the hillside streets above Mission Canyon, plus Goleta and Montecito on the way through. Santa Barbara is roughly 95 miles from our North Hollywood shop, so we do not run a same-day truck up the coast. We book Santa Barbara appointments in advance, usually for the following day, and confirm the time window before the van leaves.
Most of Santa Barbara sits close enough to the water that salt-laden air reaches the garage, and it goes after the steel parts first: spring coils, lift cables, hinges and the bottom panel where damp settles overnight. Torsion and extension springs are rated for a set number of open-and-close cycles, but corrosion pits the wire and the spring lets go long before it reaches that count. Cables corrode worst where they wind onto the drum, fray strand by strand, and that is almost always where they snap. Rollers that lose their lubrication seize on the stem and drag the door out of square. Many Spanish-revival and Riviera hillside homes still run heavy original wood doors, and once one of those is out of balance the opener is lifting weight it was never rated for, so a burnt gearbox tends to follow the spring failure.
We repair far more doors than we replace. Springs, cables, drums, rollers, hinges, tracks, bearings, panels, openers and safety sensors are all routine work, and a rusted door is usually worth saving if the panels themselves are sound. When a door really is finished we fit a new one and match the panel style and hardware to the house — which matters on properties inside Santa Barbara's historic and architectural review districts, where the door's appearance is part of what gets approved. We also service commercial and roll-up doors. Licensed and insured, California license #1149841.
These are the faults Santa Barbara homeowners call us about most. Describe what the door is doing when you book and we will diagnose it on site at no charge.
